Vibhu and Web Series - First web series that we enjoyed together

Television has been our biggest medium of entertainment for long. However, with the evolution of the internet, the monopoly broke and people started looking for a new kind of fun through the internet. Social media is one such kind of source of refreshment. Then we witnessed how slowly OTT platforms established their roots in our country and web series became the most-watched content among people of the new generation. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar are few very popular platforms that took over the digital space like a storm.

Then Covid happened. We all were at home and those who had internet access lapped up multiple web series on OTT platforms. With lockdown outside, it was binge-watching; nonstop, morning, day, and night. That further accelerated the growth and business of the OTT platforms like hell.

I am also one such person who got caught by web series fever during the first lockdown time. I was on maternity break and totally mad because of postpartum bugs. So I thought to change my mind by watching a few popular web series. I was already late to the party, however, I took help from my husband and decided to jump into this world where there is no wait for the next episode, no ad, and no shortage of options. However, there was one more person whom I had to include in my web series watch; my 7 years old firstborn. There was no escape. His school was shut and going out was not allowed at all.

Scam -1992 web series
We started with a series that seemed a clean story. It is free from unnecessary adult content, violence, and cuss words (limited I would say). It is "Scam 1992" based on the life of stockbroker Harshad Mehta. The story is tight and kept both of us hooked until we finished it. Let me be honest here I had to explain things to my boy and I skipped a big part of it while describing the story. But Vibhu watched all episodes with me. The web series made me understand how the stock market runs and what loopholes made Harshad Mehta made enormous money back then.

For Vibhu, the interest factors were Gujarati dialogues and Pratik Gandhi's performance. Although he is too young to understand the whole plot, however, he liked that we can watch back-to-back episodes without any break. Yes, we all are sick of those long TV breaks that kill total interest in shows. Vibhu repeated a dialogue from the series for days "Risk hai to Ishq hai.." The best thing about this 10 episode series is that it leaves the decision on us whether Harshad was a victim or a criminal. At the same time, it shows us the person he was! Also, this is one such series that we can watch full family.  Vibhu and I had a great start and we kept on watching more such good web series one after other.

Worshiping Krishna.. वसुदॆव सुतं दॆवं कंस चाणूर मर्दनम्..

Shri Krishna Ashtakam is a worshiping prayer devoted to Lord  Krishna praising his powers and glory. Ashtakam means a prayer which contains eight hymns(slokas). Each hymn or verse is composed of four phrases, each describing one quality or great acts of Sri Krishna. And, each sloka is composed in two lines. It is believed that krishnashtakam lyrics possess great powers. Here is the English translation of this holy verse : वसुदॆव सुतं दॆवं कंस चाणूर मर्दनम् । दॆवकी परमानन्दं कृष्णं वन्दॆ जगद्गुरुम् ॥1॥ Vasudeva Sutam Devam Kansa Chanura Mardanam... I am not the mother who.. I am not the mother who stayed longer with her newborn, I resumed office when he was barely 2 months old. I am not the mother who witnessed each of my kid's milestones, I got to know them when being told. I am not the mother who could tell breastfeeding stories, my child is a formula-fed gold. I am not the mother who keeps the house spotless, I let my son scatter toys and go overbold. I am not the mother who manages a detailed list for parenting chores, I often keep my to-dos on hold. I am not the mother whom people admire, I hear people calling me selfish and cold. My 'Invisible' Accomplishments #DecadeHop #RRxMM

As we entered 2020, through this post I am trying to contemplate the coolest, most daring, and most significant feats of my life during the last decade. Now the more I regress my memory, the more I feel there are two types of achievements or accomplishments that I can ponder upon; Visible and Invisible. Visible ones are those that I can count on my finger like a parrot and others can nod also. I got specs on, married to a not-so-romantic man, produced a baby, started writing and added good 17 kgs in my body volume (I was 50 in 2011). However, there are many invisible accomplishments too that either I know silently or very few can assert. From 2011 to 2019, Who am I now From a coy soul to now an outspoken woman, the trek was not easy. I achieved it. From being a no-makeup girl to now a lipstick swatches observer, the transition was tough. But it happened. And from being a sweet hater to now a sweet lover, the change was mysterious yet occurred. And now I can die for Gulab Jamuns.
