I want to be a Low-maintenance mother

We,mothers, deserve to be appreciated, respected, and admired. One way we think, we can make it happen, is by improving our appearances. Makeup, beauty treatments and surgeries are only few methods which today's women are opting to enhance their looks and make themselves attractive. But in today's over taken, over done and over glammed world of women, if you are the one who doesn't have "much time" to work upon pimples, aging, fine lines and wrinkles, then you come under the category of a "Low-maintenance mother". Although, you notice it every day but you fail to take immediate action. You focus on minimum skin/body care and spend maximum of your time with your family.
Believing in this concept LMM (Low-maintenance MOTHER) doesn't mean one should not work to maintain herself. It rather means, instead of hitting the gym, doing yoga at home for keeping ourselves fit. It means, instead of using expensive cosmetics, using natural homemade skin care products. It actually means, instead of wearing only in-fashion clothes, being in classic and all time clothes. I admit, looking beautiful is every woman's right but what we are doing to achieve this beauty becomes an affecting matter once we have families. We can always go for a massage or pedicure, or for any other beauty treatment but low maintenance actually is caring for our body in a less expensive way (in terms of money and time both).
Low maintenance says NO to things lifted, enhanced, or lasered. It supports shopping at inexpensive stores and look for items that are stylish but on sale, and to buy only clothes that we are sure we would wear. Brands should not matter and should never be used as a status symbol. Low-maintenance suggests "Don't long for beauty all the time because beauty is volatile, subjective and short lived." Low-maintenance mothers believe its okay to be less than perfect. Taking care of our body is important and worth it, but a little moderation is necessary. This concept states if we have a childlike heart and caring nature then we shall remain young always. Age is just a number. We know that new clothes, cosmetics, shopping always cheers us up but real contentment is finding an everlasting source of happiness. Real beauty is having a purpose of life that allows us to brush aside the unimportant and focus on the super important.
And the most crucial thing is Low-maintenance mothers (and wives) are actually a gift for the family. Because such mothers are always busy with significant things of life that they don't give much importance to scrutinize their body. For that matter they don't try to be what they are not. They believe every woman is already beautiful and she can always be more beautiful. It just needs appreciating ourselves, highlighting our natural beauty so that we can shine like a gem regardless of time and age. It is rightly said by someone that "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." I am proudly saying that I want to be a Low-maintenance mother.

My Monsoon Love Hate Love Story

Last year, almost the same time, I packed every belonging of mine and landed to a place which is close to my heart. With bag and baggage, my family moved from Delhi to Lucknow. It was monsoon time when I came here and thank god I witnessed a prosperous rain. Lucknow, though smaller compared to Delhi, is a place I distinguish since childhood. The city of Nawabs is believed as the happiest city in India. As our move was well calculated, my husband and I made sure to have all those things in our lives that I missed being in Delhi. A bigger house (that we can afford), green surroundings, street food access that we missed in Delhi and people who talk in our native tongue.

The Hate Story

I hated the rain when I was in Delhi. My house was in a busy lane of a crowded Delhi locality, and I was living on the second floor of the building. Hence neither I had easy access to the road, nor to terrace. When it rained, I was forced to stay inside. Roads used to get sunk even after the rain of half an…

The Utopian World Of Smart Devices

I would like to start this post with telling readers my profession. I am a software professional who has a decade of experience in technology and software development. In those 10 years, I have very closely seen how technology has evolved. Of course, the first urge was the necessity that let every invention happen. And then technology got advanced to make the user experience better and further sound. In the chain of making every sort of experience pleasanter for users, the era of smart devices came. We all remember the time when smartphones came into the market. Before that, we had those dial phones and keypad mobiles. We were able to talk to the other party. But the progression of technology made it real to actually see with whom we talk. We still talk through phones but with added feel and warmth.

The Utopian World Of Smart Devices

Not only smartphones, but there has been an exponential increase in the number of smart devices around us in the last 5 years. When I first heard the ter…

Food Habits That I Am Going To Change This Year

This post is for New Year resolutions blog train. The blog train is hosted by Vartika, Alpana and Prerna,  sponsored by Pandora's Box and Recipe Dabba. My topic is Dr Feelgood - How are you planning to tweak your Food Habits for 2019 .

We all desire to stay healthy and happy. Yes, happiness is very much connected to our health. But today's sedentary lifestyle has made us fall for quick meals and unhealthy choices. Over the course of time, these quick things give us side effects that rather don't go quick. Eventually, we fall prey to weight loss industry which asks for cutting sugar, salt, oils, carbs, dairy product and almost everything which is there in our kitchens since our grandparents time. We run after different diets (Ketogenic diet, Vegan diet, Raw food diet etc) and we even believe in schemes like having dinner before sunset, getting rid of rice, keeping a distance with fruits and avoiding any type of fat.

Is this way of keeping ourselves fit sustainable in the …
