Significance of Ganesha, Meaning of his creation

In her childhood,my sister once asked my mother why we worship such a strange god Ganesha. She was asking about elephant headed, pot-bellied, broken-tusked god who travels on a mouse. It sounds bit funny. But as strange it looks, this little peculiarity of Lord Ganesha has a deep spiritual meaning. It has a great significance when we connect this strangeness to our life. The symbolic representation of Ganesha has an easy to understand connotation. His image represents how one should see life and world around. With each of his body part, he teaches us how to live life blissfully. I read about it recently and here I am sharing it with you all.
Lord Ganesha's elephant head symbolizes the immense wisdom of a person of Perfection. Wisdom is something that comes out of thinking big, without being influenced. This cognition can happen only when one has willingness to listen to others. Lord Ganesha's large ears signify that we should be good listener. It also symbolizes that even the w…

On Vibhu's Birthday

Kid's first birthday is always special. So last Wednesday out of ordinary for me as it's Vibhu's first birthday today. The celebration started from a day before only. Vibhu's favorite person, his didi "Dhwani" celebrated his birthday at 12 O'clock. Although her half yearly exams are starting from today but she is overjoyed with the thoughts of birthday gala. I was surprised to see her message in my phone. She wanted us ( me and my dear husband) to take Vibhu to her place at 12 AM sharp. I was already noticing some activity at her room which is just above my kitchen window. When I reached there with Vibhu, I was touched with the gesture of whole Dhwani's family. They had decorated the room, cake was placed and birthdays songs were playing in order. Vibhu always feel happy to see them so he started dancing with the music. My bad I was in a messy dress whereas every one from Dhwani's family her mother, father, cousin all were dressed well. Vibhu love…

Today's kids are lucky have Parents like us

Don't you think that our kids are lucky to have parents like us? I do think and I am feeling it for long time. Few days back my sweet sister sent a toy piano for my son. Its really an amazing toy having a key board, different style buttons for animal sounds and it flashes light depending upon music. Although its can't catch interest of my son towards itself. Two people of my family really enjoyed it,my mother in-law and my husband. I heard my mother in- law saying that she couldn't afford such type of expensive toy for my husband in his childhood. At the same time, I noticed my loving husband playing with keyboard. My mother in-law stays with us so we talk a lot on different topics. One from those list of subject is her early married life and start of her motherhood. She got married in a typical conservative Brahmin family where husband-wife talking in open was a crime. They were allowed to see each other during night only with some conditions applied also. All household …

Parenting from same page

Last week my son ( 11 months old now) faced hard time because of viral fever and congestion. Each time he was coughing, he was crying with pain. And it was very difficult for both of us, me and my husband, to see our kid in such a situation. He was on medicines and was not ready to sit or rest. So we both were carrying him in arms and were continuously standing to calm him down . It’s like hell to see babies crying in pain so I also cried once and prayed God to lessen his discomfort. I saw tears in my husband’s eyes as well. He is a tough man but our son’s screaming broke his heart. Next day I went to our kind neighbors who helped us in taking my kiddo to their old family doc. It was a thank you visit and there I heard something which actually made to envious with my husband. Lady said that she saw tears in my husband’s eyes and said that he is a father better than a mother. She keeps an eye on what is happening at each of her neighbor’s house and that ways she knows so much about ho…

Nutrition Labels on food items : Facts

The day I started keeping an eye on what I am eating ( for losing fat I got after pregnancy J ), I started noticing "Nutrition Labels"  on back of every food item. This was to check how many calories I am consuming. But to be honest it was so complex to read it !! I have mastered reading complex software code in these many years but this was something out-of-the-way. There were many other terms like "trans-fats", "Preservatives", "Stabilizers" which were pure "X" to me. So I read about it and collected the facts. Here are few points which can help you in understanding how these "Nutrition Labels" are hiding facts and making us fool:
1. You can start your label reading adventure by looking at the "serving size" first. If a half-cup serving has 50 calories, but you usually eat a one-cup serving, you'll be getting 100 calories.
2. Low Fat : Be careful as 'low fat' may not always mean 'low calories'…

Eating With Your Hands: Facts

Feeding kids with your hand

When Vibhu started with semi solids, my mother told to use my hands to feed him. Frankly I never liked it before as well but as every elder in the family is doing this manner I just accepted it. I used to go to my Dada ji's places in my summer vacation and there we used to have our food with hands. When my mother told me to follow this for Vibhu, I did some research and found interesting facts. In quest of it, I asked my mother about it. She told me that first of all, it improves bonding with the baby. Second, as per our Hindu culture, it's believed that on the tip of fingers is Goddess Lakshmi, on the base of fingers is Goddess Saraswati; in the middle of fingers is Lord Govinda (Shishu Mandir Girls remember Karagre waste Laxmi... Slok). And all these deities bless the food so having it, is like having a “Prashad”.

Here are the points, which I think are good enough for me to accept it for Vibhu :

BHU Exam and our experience - Part 2 ( Final one)

Have you read Part 1 of this story ? NO ?? Then please go ahead and read it else this post will not look meaningful to you (Part 1). Ahh.. you have already read the first part ?? Great !! Then you can definitely see what happens next.
So we three me,Alka and Pooja were at Harendar Chacha's company and were enjoying it fullest ( kidding..). We were actually scared. Finally we had dinner and were planning to sleep so that we can go for exam next morning. By that time we had heard so much about Harendar Chacha from his lovely wife only so I was not in favor of trusting him for any further help. As electricity cuts were continuous so Harendar Chacha decided to arrange beddings at terrace of his flat only. Actually his flat had half portion open and half had construction of rooms. Beddings were arranged at floor and we all settled down. I was trying to talk to Papa and somehow Harendar Chacha was not letting me do this. He was keeping Papa and Alka's father busy somehow. I was badly…

A story like love story..

Hey Guys! Look there ,who came? Ms. Soniya Ghandhi from raebareli. He said with a cunning smile to other boys and girls sitting in the classroom, when I entered. Everyone laughed. I have told him when I first met him that I am from Raebareli, constituency of Mrs. Indira Ghandhi and Mrs. Soniya Ghandhi ,with some pride in my tongue. I hav’nt even guessed that this will give me a new nick name for all my years in college.

And who you are? Mr. Lalu Prasad from Bihar, I said with fake anger in my voice. Everyone laughed again. It was our method of greeting each other.

Sanjay, yes it was his name. A boy from Bihar, with around 6 ft height, fair complexion and warm attitude. He was not the topper of the class but was topper of some toughest subjects of electronics engineering. Once he solved a numerical of subject Signal and Systems, which even teacher was not able to solve. Each girl of the class was his admirer.

He met Shakshi first time in the Chemistry lab. He was not able to believe that …

BHU Exam and our experience - Part 1

Have you ever thought of being trapped anywhere? I have and I was not alone. Our known friends Alka and Pooja were with me. After B.Sc final year exam, we all were appearing in different next level entrance exams. We three, Alka, Pooja and me were to go BHU for our MSc ( Math's) entrance exams. The test was to be started at 9.30 AM morning time so it was impossible to reach to Banaras this early. In any case we needed to be there one day before so that next day we could appear in exam. My father was looking for someone who belongs to Banaras in his office ( I.T.I.) and came to know that Shukla Uncle was from there. His daughter Shweta was also our class mate. But she opted Arts as medium of studies. From Shukla Uncle only, my father came to know that she was also going for BHU exam. It was for MA Economics. Now our problem seemed to get fixed. Papa ( my father) requested Shukla Uncle if he could manage we three there for one day ( to his relative's place). And he agreed. He sa…

What is the meaning of freedom : By Priyam

What freedom means to me : By Shipra

Independence means something different to each of us. It means the right to act, speak, or think as one wants. It is also a state of self-control or self-ownership in which each and every person has legal right to speak and act freely. My definition of freedom always changed with stages of my life. During my childhood, not doing homework was my biggest freedom :). In my teenage, spending limitless time with friends was a real feel of my freedom. When I started working and started taking laws and government seriously, I always thought that our country is so great. It has given us “Right to freedom” which includes speech and expression, assembly, association or union, movement, residence, right to practice any profession or occupation and right to life. I did my studies in the way I wanted. I had freedom to say anything to my parents. I started doing job the way I liked. I traveled many places for participating in different competitions because I wanted to participate and my parents ha…

FREEDOM : By Aradhana

FREEDOM , Freedom means liberation from external controls We can act and think according to our will. We are free to pray any God, whom we believe. We can dance on the roads in marriages of our friends, we are free to eat anything we like to eat. We are free to choose our clothes, Indian or western or burkha. We can choose whatever job we want to do. We can walk in the rain. We can go anywhere in our county using any transport. we can shop own or sell anything. we can educate ourself or our children from any institute. we can go movies, markets restaurants with anyone. Every day we watch different kinds of news, media is independent to show any news on tv. Why. Because we are living in free country, India is a free country. All these things are seeming very small, but ask a prisoner the importance of all these things. Ask a caged bird what freedom is. Our forefathers had fought for this freedom and sacrificed their lives for this freedom. India had been ruled by Mughals and British f…

Good parenting is more than breastfeeding ( My Winning Story on World Breastfeeding Week Celebration)

Few minutes before I read what Deepika felt not being able to breastfeed the baby long. I am also a mother of same group " Formula Feeding Mamas group" :). For initial 3 months everything was absolutely okay for me but after that I as joined my office back, gradually lactation stopped. In my absence Vibhu was formula fed so he got into habit of it. He was cranky when I tried to hold him for breastfeed after reaching home. As lactation was limit, he was not getting enough to feel satisfied. I was also going mad why I am not able to produce enough breast milk in-spite of taking medication. After trying my best to nurse my baby when results were thumbs down, I took a decision to opt formula feed completely for Vibhu. But when you can't breastfeed the baby, you get into depression, honestly. I was also in same situation depressed, unhappy and heavy hearted.

Here are some points which helped me to come out of this situation :

1. Give yourself a break : Try not to beat yourse…

Childhood Love - Part 2

Sometimes I think to fall in love is very easy but to maintain it very difficult. As Cheenu and Duggu were going through a cold fight, they were not in talking terms which actually amazed everyone in the class. Their class mates teased them asking why they were not sitting together, why they were not talking each other. Both of them were actually not happy keeping themselves away from each other. But some kind of anger came between them and they were just going with it. Poor kids !! They were like this for months and annual exam dates got announced. This was something different happening. Silently Cheenu and Duggu were passing through exams without asking each other how it was going. They used to ask each other about questions inside bus while going back home. Cheenu always thought only about clearing the subject and contrary Duggu always thought to secure place in top 5 students of the class. It was last day of exam when Duggu decided to talk to Cheenu. Because they were not going t…

Smile Meet Aradhana,your Sister

In my last post, I described my feelings for my lovely friend Pushpa. Yesterday Pushpa's kind comments made me feel that somehow I was a mystery for many of my school mates. I admit I was introvert and less talking person. In spite of being good in studie, I was in lack of confidence. Confidence in terms of self reliance and acceptance. With time I have improved myself a lot. I am now evolved :). Yesterday only I saw our pics which were being clicked by Pushpa at last Sunday when we met. One thing which is common in all pics is beautiful smile of our bubbly friend Aradhana. Thanks to my memory cells who are working perfectly till date, I can remember my childhood time with Aradhana. Perhaps I recently admitted that I want one thing from Aradhana. Her jolly nature and enthusiasm. And of course she is very intelligent. Be it studies or other activities, she always stood top and done very well. I am in touch with her since my first school and class. And I must say she has reflection…

What friendship means

We have celebrated friendship day this Sunday. And thanks to my lovely friends Aradhana, Pushpa and Vartika for making this day meaning full after long time. I was not in touch with them since log time but God bless these smart phones, I got reconnected with them on WhatsApp. When I was going through many messages over WhatsApp, one incident clicked in my mind. We were in class 9th I guess and we all ( Aradhana, Akaksha , Pushpa and me) were in Bareilly.Girls remember ??? We participated in "Prantiya Khel -Kud". Pushpa our sports girl participated in many sports activities..race, high jump if I am recalling it correct. Also she got her name enrolled in "Art Competition". I am not able to get my neurons finding what was the theme for this competition but she practiced a paining I can still describe. It as having Tulsi Das sitting at river bank with something in his hand ( Pushpa don't get angry if my visualization is wrong :) ). Fine !! She is a creative person…

My birthday story

Yippee!! My birthday is on 1st Aug and it's a Saturday this time. No office, free time means more fun actually. I always love to celebrate my birthday since my childhood. During my school time, I used to call my school mates at home on my birthday. My mother used to cook delicious food ( Chole, Puri, Kheer etc.. ) for us. I used to get new cloths and that was all about celebrating a birthday. No concept of cake at all. Then my little sister started demanding for cake so cake cutting was allowed only on my sister’s birthday. After I got married, when my birthday came I was so excited and curious how my husband is going to surprise me. Mr N loves writing and he used to write his thoughts almost every day that time. Somehow I got to read what he was planning for my birthday. I was in seventh heaven. He had properly created a list of items which he wanted to do. And that list had things started from morning till night. I thought I was going to have a blast this birthday.

Finally it w…

God save our babies from diseases

We never want our babies to get sick and for this, we try our best to keep our babies safe and healthy. But we can't hide them inside our places so they go outside play, eat and enjoy. This exposure to outside world sometime get them infected by some nasty viruses. Last week my son was suffering from severe cold-fever. We started with few medicines and saw improvements in his health. I thanked God and wished Vibhu to come out quickly from this cold bug. Cold is like a night ghost. This can't let babies sleep well. I saw Vibhu was tossing over bed because of nose blockage. Giving him nozzle drop was only option we had. We both, husband and wife, really avoid this remedy until no option left. Vibhu hate this nozzle drop but ultimately I gave it to him and he started crying with discomfort in his nose.
Next day after reaching home from my office I came to know from my mother in-law that Vibhu now got loose motions. In a single day he did it for more than 20 times. I saw his face …

Childhood Love - Part 1

Can anyone fall in love when he/she is only 6-7 years old? I don't have any answer honestly. And i don't think 6 years old kid understands this term "Love" broadly. For this age, love for family is only understandable. Here is a story of love which belongs to two 7 years old kids.

Duggu and Cheenu were best friends and were students of class second. Both of them were so attached to each other that they hardly missed school. They both used to go to school together by school bus. Their chemistry was famous in school. Although they were just kids of 7 years old but they had a pure heart for each other. No selfish feeling at all.  Their bus stops were back to back so first Duggu used to get in the bus and block seat next to him for Cheenu .They were in same section actually. They used to sit in same class seat as well. And because of this both of them were actually matter of laugh for other kids of that class. Its boy and girl sitting together, shame shame!! Other kids o…
